PEDIATRIC OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Promoting independence in everyday activities that are meaningful to the child : play, self-care skills such as eating, sleeping, dressing and bathing, social skills, academic skills such as handwriting, fine motor skills, attention and focus as well as regulating emotions and sensory processing needs.

What is Pediatric Occupational Therapy?

Pediatric Occupational Therapy is for babies, children, and adolescents.

Why might my child see an Occupational Therapist?

  • To develop fine motor skills (e.g., grasping and releasing toys, handwriting, scissor skills).
  • To improve visual motor skills like tracking and hand-eye-coordination.
  • To help build independence in self-care skills such as eating, getting dressed, bathing and toileting.
  • To explore sensory processing strengths and needs.
  • To develop self-regulation skills to optimize focus and attention or to help manage frustration and anger.
  • To get specialized equipment to help foster independence (e.g., bathroom equipment, wheelchairs).
